Guest Teacher in Art

Posted in First Grade on May 8, 2012 by Anthony Sznakowski

Monday, Mrs. Thomas volunteered to help out with Kindergarten in the Art Room. She brought in a great book that dealt with a funny story of animals jumping into a pond. The students had to count the animals and then illustrate each animal from the story.

Thank You Mrs. Thomas for doing a great job!

Texture

Texture is basically how something feels. This week Kindergarden, First and Second grade has been using texture plates to create their own texture rubbings.

Whimsical Monster

Posted in Uncategorized on May 8, 2012 by Anthony Sznakowski

Here is Branson’s Whimsical Monster.

Branson created this creature from clay. I fired it and then he painted it with glaze. I am going to enter this piece into an Art Show this summer for the Cathedral Arts Project.

Feel free to comment.

Posted in First Grade, Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 28, 2012 by Anthony Sznakowski

In first grade we have begun studying the Art of painting Still Lifes. First Graders looked at several examples of still lifes painted by other great artists before painting their own. Here you can see Mrs. Waddelow’s class working hard to create their masterpieces.

FCAT this week

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17, 2012 by Anthony Sznakowski

I hope everyone is doing well this week. I know the FCAT is tough, but I know all my students are doing to their best and really that is all we can ask.

There is no Art this week, but there is CAP after school on Thursday and Friday.

Good luck on the rest of your FCAT and I’ll see you soon.

This week began making paper mâché fish. This is a new thing for me. I’ve never taught paper mâché before, but so far everything seems to be looking good. Look for more pictures of the finished product soon.
